Word Solver
Find words from letters, wildcards and filters.
Find words from your letters
Start with your letters, then add only the clues you know.
How MesraTools Word Solver works
How to use the Word Solver
- Enter the letters you have available. Use
?for an unknown or wildcard letter. - Add only the filters you actually know, such as starting letters, ending letters, a required sequence, exclusions or exact word length.
- Select how results should be sorted, then press Find Words.
- Review the candidates and add one more filter at a time if the list is too broad.
The solver checks the local MesraTools word data against your available letters and optional filters. A ? can stand for one missing letter. “Starts with” and “Ends with” match fixed positions, while “Contains letters in order” can use underscores or question marks as gaps.
Demo
Try letters: LEMON, starts with: LE, and length: 5. Then compare the results after removing the starting-letter filter.
Important: the current package still uses a development word dataset. Results demonstrate the solver workflow, but a verified production dictionary/licensing strategy is required before public launch.
What each filter means
- Available letters: the letters you can use to build a word.
- Starts/Ends: require an exact prefix or suffix.
- Contains exact sequence: requires adjacent letters in that order.
- Contains letters in order: lets other letters appear between specified letters.
- Exclude: rejects words containing any excluded letter.
Practical uses
Useful for word puzzles, classroom vocabulary practice, anagram exploration and checking possible word patterns. Review game rules before using external assistance in competitive play.
For broader solver design, MesraTools benchmarks leading word-helper interfaces while keeping its own implementation, wording and scoring logic.
Examples
Example 1 — wildcard
Letters: CA?
The wildcard can substitute for one missing letter, so the engine can test three-letter candidates that use C and A plus one other letter.
Example 2 — ordered pattern
Contains letters in order: E_O
This means the word must contain E, later another character position, and later O, while other letters may appear around them.
Frequently asked questions
Does it use every letter? Not necessarily. The solver can find words up to the available rack length. Use more filters to narrow the list.
Does “contains” mean anywhere? Yes. Exact sequence requires adjacent letters; the ordered-pattern field is more flexible.
Why are some expected words missing? The development dictionary is intentionally limited until a production-grade word source is approved.
How to use the Word Solver
1. Enter letters
Type the letters you can use. Add ? only for a genuinely unknown letter.
2. Add clues
Use Starts, Ends, Contains, ordered patterns and Length to narrow candidates.
3. Review matches
Compare candidates and add one filter at a time when the result list is too broad.
4. Check game rules
MesraTools candidates come from the current development word data and are not automatically valid in every commercial word game.
