Split Images & Extract Frames
Split a still image into tiles, or extract frames from supported animated images. Processing stays in your browser for these workflows.
Image splitter
Divide one browser-decodable image into equal rows and columns. Edge tiles include any remainder pixels so the whole image is retained.

Animation frame extractor
This workflow uses the browser's ImageDecoder capability when available. MesraTools checks support at runtime and does not pretend unsupported animation decoding works.

Privacy, limits & animation accuracy
Splitting and frame extraction are designed to run locally in the browser. Very large images or animations with many frames can use significant memory, so this build caps one extraction run at 250 output frames. The extractor reports the browser decoder's frame count and per-frame duration when available. Static PNG/WebP files may legitimately contain only one frame. JPEG output cannot preserve transparency and therefore uses the selected background colour.
This tool extracts frames; it does not yet rebuild a new animated GIF/APNG/WebP. Animation encoding remains dependency/capability-gated for a later media-engine build.
