Waveform Statistics Analyzer

Calculate decoded-sample minimum, maximum, mean, absolute mean, RMS, peak, crest factor and zero-crossing statistics per channel.

What the numbers mean

Minimum and maximum show decoded sample extremes. Mean can reveal whole-file DC bias. Absolute mean and RMS summarize amplitude mathematically. Crest factor compares sample peak with RMS. Zero crossings count sign changes in the decoded waveform.

How to use the result

These values can help compare files, spot unusual offset or dynamic behavior, and provide reproducible technical evidence before other processing. They are not by themselves a judgment of perceived loudness, sound quality or mastering quality.

Limitations

RMS is not LUFS, sample peak is not reconstructed true peak/dBTP, and zero-crossing rate is not a reliable standalone pitch detector. Statistics cover the full decoded file and do not perform gated loudness or psychoacoustic weighting.
