Trim Leading & Trailing Silence

Remove quiet material only from the beginning and end of decoded audio using an explicit peak-amplitude threshold.

Scope of silence removal

Build 106 trims only leading and trailing regions where every decoded channel stays at or below the selected peak threshold. It deliberately does not remove internal pauses, because deleting silence inside speech/music changes timing and can damage intentional rests.

Choosing a threshold

-50 dBFS is a practical starting point for relatively clean material. A threshold that is too high can cut quiet attacks or ambience; one that is too low may leave background noise. Padding keeps a small margin around detected content.

This is not noise reduction

The detector does not learn a noise profile, gate frequencies or restore damaged recordings. Background hiss above the threshold is treated as content.

Privacy and result evidence

Processing stays local. The result reports how much was removed from each edge and exports a new 16-bit PCM WAV.

FAQ

Why did it say no samples above threshold? Lower the threshold. Will it remove pauses between words? No; Build 106 preserves internal timing.
