Silence & Active Segment Detector

Detect sustained quiet and active regions using an explicit decoded-sample RMS threshold.

Choose a browser-decodable audio file.

How it works

The analyzer divides decoded audio into short frames, calculates channel-averaged RMS, and classifies only quiet runs meeting the minimum duration as silence. Use the result to find pauses, speech/activity blocks, or candidate edit boundaries.

Interpretation

“Silence” means below the selected digital threshold, not absolute acoustic silence. Room noise may be classified as active, and very quiet desired material may be classified as silence.

Privacy

This Build 118 workflow uses browser decoding and analysis; the selected file is not intentionally uploaded by this tool.

Limitations

Results are analytical evidence, not a mastering certificate, forensic conclusion, musical transcription, or guaranteed semantic interpretation. Browser decoding support varies by format.
