Insert Silence into Audio
Add a zero-amplitude silent interval at a selected position without overwriting the source file.
What silence insertion means
The tool inserts new zero-valued PCM frames. Everything after the insertion point moves later in time, so the output duration increases by the inserted interval.
When to use it
Useful for adding a pause, spacing clips before a later merge, creating room for narration, or aligning simple assets. It does not add room tone; true digital silence may sound different from a recorded quiet environment.
Accuracy
The requested time is rounded to the nearest decoded sample frame. Build 106 permits up to 60 seconds per insertion operation to keep browser memory use bounded.
Privacy and output
Processing is local and exports a new 16-bit PCM WAV. The original is unchanged and compressed-format metadata is not retained.
FAQ
Can I insert silence at the end? Yes, select the source duration. Does it fade into the silence? No; use the Fade tool if a fade is desired.
