Audio Hum Remover
Reduce steady 50 Hz or 60 Hz electrical hum and selected harmonics with browser-local notch filters.
What it does
This tool applies narrow biquad notch filters at the selected 50 Hz or 60 Hz mains frequency and its harmonic multiples. It is intended for steady electrical hum, not arbitrary noise.
How to choose 50 or 60 Hz
Use the mains frequency appropriate to the recording environment or inspect the spectrum first. Choosing the wrong family can remove useful low-frequency content without fixing the hum.
Limitations
This is fixed-frequency notch filtering, not adaptive hum tracking, broadband denoising, AI restoration or forensic repair. Very high Q values ring longer; lower Q values remove a wider band. Harmonics near or above Nyquist are automatically skipped.
Recommended workflow
Start with the fundamental plus two or three harmonics and Q around 20–35. Add harmonics only when the spectrum or listening test shows they are needed. Keep the untouched source.
Privacy & output
Processing stays in your browser. Export is newly generated 16-bit PCM WAV and does not preserve source metadata or artwork.
FAQ
Will this remove air-conditioner hiss? No; hiss is broadband. Will it remove changing hum? Only approximately when the hum remains close to the selected fixed frequencies.
