Clipping & Headroom Analyzer
Measure decoded sample peak, headroom to digital full scale, exact full-scale sample count and samples near a selectable threshold.
What the numbers mean
Headroom is calculated from the highest absolute decoded sample relative to 0 dBFS. Full-scale samples are decoded samples whose absolute value is at least 1.0. The near-threshold count shows how many decoded samples meet your selected dBFS threshold.
Critical limitation
This is sample-peak analysis, not true-peak analysis. It does not reconstruct inter-sample peaks and does not prove that later DAC playback or lossy encoding will remain below 0 dBTP. It is also not LUFS loudness analysis.
Interpretation
Zero exact full-scale samples does not guarantee unclipped source history: clipping may have occurred before encoding or at lower levels. Conversely, an isolated full-scale sample is evidence to inspect, not automatic proof of audible distortion.
