Audio Balance / Pan
Move mono audio across a two-channel stereo field or adjust the relative level of the first two channels in stereo/multichannel material.
How processing works
For mono input, Build 108 creates two channels using equal-power cosine/sine pan gains. For input with two or more decoded channels, it applies a simple balance control to the first two channels by attenuating the opposite side.
Important limitations
Stereo balance is not the same as true stereo panning or spatial positioning. Multichannel input is not surround-downmixed; channels beyond the first two are not carried into this bounded two-channel output.
Practical guidance
Use small balance adjustments to correct a left/right level bias. Centered mono becomes equal-level left/right under the equal-power law, which does not create real stereo width or ambience.
Privacy and output
Processing stays local in the browser. Output is 16-bit PCM WAV and does not preserve tags, artwork or compressed-format metadata.
